For children and schools

The Norrköping Symphony Orchestra has an extensive program for children and youth.

On a yearly basis, over 20 000 preschool and school students visits the concert hall for a combination of school concerts, study groups, and other cooperative work where students are involved in both production planning and performance.

The orchestra is currently involved in two El Sístema projects in the region of Östergötland, supporting the teachers responsible for the musical education of the participating children.

Several original children productions has stemmed from the orchestra over the years. During the season of 2014/15 the orchestra produced a newly composed childrens opera, Hion at night, with music by Christopher Nobin and libretto by Henrik Ståhl. The opera was released on cd in September 2017.
