Newly established award goes to the Allan Pettersson Project.

18 September 2017

An extra festive touch will be added to the concert this Thursday, featuring Allan Pettersson’s second violin concerto. This evening the Allan Pettersson Project will be rewarded with the Allan Prize 2017, the very first of its kind to be handed out.

The newly established Allan Prize is awarded by the Swedish Allan Pettersson Society to a person, group of people or projects that work to spread and increase interest in Allan Pettersson’s music through, for example, performances, recordings, seminars or research about the composer and his music.

The Allan Pettersson project was chosen for the first award because of the devoted commitment and the enormous effort to document and spread Allan Petterson’s music throughout the world through concerts, posthumous first performances and recordings.

“Allan Petterson Project” is a collaboration between Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, conductor Christian Lindberg and BIS Records with the ultimate goal of collecting Allan Pettersson’s symphonies in a CD box and presenting the seventh symphony during a European Tour in 2018.
